WYNTK: Migrating Exchange to Office 365

Pre-requisites

  • Make sure email flow is NOT currently going through Office 365 (Once you add licensed mailboxes, email will get 'stuck' at Office 365). Using Spam Titan for direct delivery is a good option.
  • Exchange server uses full email address for user name (not domain\user) - Required for Outlook 2016+
  • Do not change auto discover records until migration date to avoid issues on mobile devices and Outlook 2016 clients

Pre-requisites (RDS Servers)

  • Office 365 (E3 or higher) - or - Volume license of office

Migration of mailboxes

  • Migration Wiz (licensed per mailbox) or Microsoft's built-in data migration tool (May only run once per day- limited experience)
